using your phone, join the hotel wifi and log in using the captive “login” portal
if the hotel wifi DOES NOT have a captive portal, skip to step 4
IMPORTANT: under your phone's wifi settings, click the “i” icon next to hotel wifi name and toggle off/disable “Private Mac Address” and "Auto-Join"
NOTE: these instructions (specifically Step 2) were made using iPhone/iOS, but other phones may feel similar
NOTE: after disabling "Private MAC Address", you may be asked to log back into the hotel wifi captive portal
on your phone, disconnect from the hotel wifi
plug the travel router into a wall outlet and wait ~20 seconds
NOTE: you can also power the travel router via battery pack, laptop, or any other source capable of meeting the travel router's power output requirements
connect your phone to the travel router wifi:
wifi name: <travel router wifi name>
wifi password: <travel router wifi password>
on your phone's web browser, type <router IP address> > paste router admin password: <router admin password> > click "Login"
NOTE: you may get a pop-up message with the options "Use Cellular Data" or "Keep Trying WiFi". select "Keep Trying WiFi"
scroll down and click Connect under the Repeater section
under "Available Networks", select the hotel wifi
IMPORTANT: scroll down and select Mac Mode: Clone and click Apply
NOTE: if the hotel wifi does not have a captive portal, select Mac Mode: Random
click on VPN symbol > click on the three dots to the right of “WG” > click “Start”
your encrypted travel network is ready! spread the router wifi to anyone who needs it:
wifi name: <travel router wifi name>
wifi password: <travel router wifi password>
