this document will be used to document the issues with NN during the Pro Trial which is 14 days
EDIT: I have paid for the first year, despite the fact that it costs more than Evernote. There are many issues I hope they resolve in the next year, otherwise I will drop this service.
# | Issue | Type | Importance |
---|---|---|---|
1 | It's unclear how the tabs functionality works. It just seems like there are random tabs being added and it's unclear what the use case is [android only] | Functional Question | Low |
2 | Cannot import locally - requires dependence on external server with no proof of security. This really needs to be available offline. I can't simply import an existing single markdown file without going through the process of zipping the file and sending it to the cloud. | Importing | Critical |
3 | On the tablet, why can't I collapse the menu bar (the far left blade). There should be an option to hide or minimize the navigation panes. As it is now, I can't collapse them Uses up limited screen space | UX | High |
4 | Exporting task lists converts the tasks into bullet points. | Export | High |
5 | When the window (In MS Windows) is split in half to show only the document, the menu area shows a scroll bar. Even if I were to set minimal or no menu, the scrollbar is shown. This is VERY distracting and breaks the appearance settings (theme) | UX | Medium |
6 | I write using Markdown. I should be able to export in markdown regardless of the pro version. You are stripping the text that I added to the document myself. If for whatever reason (financial hardship, you go out of business , enshitification sets in on the product, etc), I should be able to export in this basic format with the images intact. | Business model | Critical |
7 | On Android Mobile, I don't seem to even be able to copy the text of a note (long click doesn't show copy) | Copy function | High |
8 | Exporting a simple markdown file is too laborious. If a plain markdown, with no attachments is exported, it's zipped. This is just extra steps. | Note export | High |
9 | Mindbogglingly dumb import of simple markdown with images - One of the worst import functions I have ever seen. Skips all of the images ,provides no feedback on why. | Import | Critical |
10 | Notebook linking requires you to save the new link before removing the original notebook link. It should allow to do this in one step instead of having to go back to the link menu again to unlink the original | Functional annoyance | Low |
11 | No undo for simple mistakes like accidentally attaching image in middle of text - android . Requires complex digging through screens | Functional issue | Medium |
12 | Copy dialog only copies text. Pasted text is not formatted in markdown [EDIT: ANDROID - Seems to have the option in Desktop) | Android Copy format | Medium |
13 | Published notes don't seem to be updated online automatically. | Monograph | Medium |
14 | Exporting to Markdown - formatting broken for tables | Export Markdown | High |
15 | Updating the Monograph on desktop different than Mobile - unclear where it is (EDIT: Seems to be two publish dialog, confusing) | Monograph | Medium |
16 | More expensive than Evernote (1100kc vs. 1400) | Pricing | Critical |
17 | Why can't I paste Markdown formatting into a document? At the least, I should be able to paste a markdown table into a note and have the table rendered. | Interoperability | High |
18 | When adding a quick note (from widget on Android) the not just seems to randomly go into a notebook. It's not always easy to find. Unless specified explicitly, the not should not be placed in any notebook | usability | Medium |
19 | Android (tablet) doesn't have a way to import an existing markdown file. | Import | High |
Example of how the tablet doesn't allow collapsing left panel
Sometimes, When exporting a Markdown with a simple table, I see this instead of the table :/
